Kids and Love

I got this from a close friend of mine, Jamilla, but it was soooo cute I had to share it with yall.

Kids' thoughts of the day:

on love and the proper age to get married?

"Eighty-four, because at that age, you don't have to work anymore, and you can spend all your time loving each other in your bedroom." (Judy, 8);

when is it ok to kiss someone?

"You should never kiss a girl unless you have enough bucks to buy her a big ring and her own VCR, cause she'll want to have videos of the wedding." (Jim, 10)

LOL!! Where are these cute kids in todays society!!!!! (You can tell it's a little outdated because the one kids mentions a VCR) Today's youth is corrupted with false ideas of what love should be and relationships......

Trends

Every now and then I see something that sticks out to me and in my head I'm like "....hmmm, when did that start?" or "that's in now?"Most people succumb to following trends instead of going with their gut instincts or what they believe is "right for them".

The other day I saw a twitpic my friends were commenting on and it consisted of a Barbie with a tattoo on her lower back. Not anything small either. It was pretty big, what most would consider a "tramp stamp". Now I'll admit, I found it amusing at first but we have to remember what age group and gender this Barbie toy is geared towards. Young girls see this toy and they ask their parents to buy it. Whether they want to admit it or not, the children subconsciously look at this doll as somewhat of an "idol". When thinking of the future they would like to have a cute boyfriend, a pink corvette and cute clothes without a care in the world, but who wouldn't? LOL. So for Mattel to manufacture something as controversial as a Barbie with a tattoo, KNOWING that in some way, shape, or form, these young girls dream of being a "Barbie" one day or having a "Barbie" lifestyle is just preposterous ESPECIALLY with all the talk and controversy of the new line of African American dolls. How can you shun away a line that could potentially enlighten and motivate young girls but push the sales of a line that will eventually crush and deteriorate all home-taught morals??? But, thats a story for another day. LOL.

These young girls that are trying to fit in and look for new trends 9/10 times hang with the wrong company. These are the girls that are in 10th grade walking around pregnant. You should be preparing for the SATs not getting ultrasounds every other week!! I think most young adults in general want to rush into adulthood. But who didnt'? We all did. But with adult decisions come adult consequences. That is what separates the adults from the children. These kids running around and cursing on Maury Povich's stage are lost causes. Why do you think it comes on television?? Its looked at as entertainment, not nearly as the issue that it really is. These girls grow older to become the girls that are in this "Barbie trend". Now I'm off the doll, I'm talking about girls close to adulthood or young adults walking around calling themselves a "Barbie" thinking its "in" or "cool". Now yes, Barbie is pretty, but she's also a 7" plastic doll. These celebrities have nothing better to do with their money but spend it on plastic surgery and start meaningless trends. These girls walk around and follow these trends naming themselves after a plastic doll with no mind.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THINKING FOR YOURSELF AND BEING YOURSELF?
